Our Australian program students were waiting to attend the introduction meeting of Swinburne University of Technology regardless of the freezing weather outside. Students were surprised to find small gifts prepared for them on the table. They couldn’t wait to open and see what was it used for.

That’s it. Does it look mysterious? 3D? Let’s keep it secret first.

The introduction meeting of Swinburne started. Eric, Coordinator of VCE program expressed his warm welcome to the delegation from Swinburne.

Hamish and Tiffany, officers of students admission, made a brief presentation on Swinburne. They played an interesting school promotion video for students. Then, Mark Finn from Art, Social Science and Humanities School talked about the advantages of majoring in journalism, media and communications. He gave students small gifts when they volunteered to answer questions.

The next is Dr. Liz Levin, from School of Business. She talked about school’s key majors, such as management, accounting, human resources. She emphasized that School of Business focuses on the problem-solving ability which is helpful for their future career.

After that, James Marshall, from School of Design, shared his interests on design from his childhood until now. Students were impressed by his passion on design. He said that Swinburne takes a leading role in interior design, industrial design, graphic design and media design. Now let me tell you the secret of the small gifts. To demonstrate how to use it, James asked a girl to come to the front. He put his iPhone into the goggles and asked her to wear it.

Do you realize now that this pair of glasses is called VR Goggles. VR means visual reality. This girl experienced an amazing journey in this visual space of VR Goggles.

A big exciting world is hidden inside this small piece.

Next James Marshall showed a project for freshmen in School of Design, Swinburne. It is about the design and application of paper planes. He told students proudly that paper planes designed by Swinburne can fly further. Then, every student was invited to make their own paper planes and to see whose paper plane can fly the furthest.

Students went to the back of the lecture hall and tried to throw their paper planes to see if they can fly to the front. Many students failed, while a few succeeded. Students gave each achiever a very big applause.

These two students are quite proud of themselves after getting a good result in this project.

At last, Hamish introduced the admission system of Swinburne which gives multiple ways for different students to get into. He also clarified the ATAR and IELTS scores for admission. He encouraged VCE year 10 and 11 students to study harder for being admitted into Swinburne.

Our students went back to study with their beautiful impression of Swinburne,Melbourne, and Australia.
