  • Teaching Experience: at least 2 years (Best with PYP experiences)

About SIFLS

Suzhou International Foreign Language School is located at Suzhou Xiangcheng District since 1995 with good fame. It is a full-time private boarding school for kindergarten-senior high students. It has a large scale with around eight hundred staff managing a campus of more than 3700 students. SIFLS has typical European Castle-like style architectures.

For 2017 semester, 46.15% of the Canadian Program students being accepted by famous universities, such as: Queen's University, University of British Columbia, University of Waterloo, University of Toronto and so on.

Domestic achievements

For 2017 Chinese college entrance examination, 39.1% of grade 12 graduates reach the first-level Chinese universities and 100% of their scores are beyond the second-level Chinese universities. Rui Zhang is admitted by Nanjing University(one of the famous first-tier universities in China) with the total score of 389 in his college Entrance Examination.

For 2017 Chinese senior high school entrance examination, the average score of our class of 2017 is 70.99 higher than the average score of Suzhou city. Total excellence rate in excess of the Suzhou city nearly 30%!

For 2017 Wenzheng experimental class, it got the total average score of 658.8 for the senior high school entrance examination, with the excellence rate of 100%. English subject and Chemistry subject excellence rate also meet 100%.

Geng Shuo, the graduate from Grade 9 Class 3, was admitted by Kuang Ya Ming experimental class of Suzhou High School in advance with the high score of 326.

About SuZhou

Suzhou, founded in 514 BC, has over 2,500 years of history, with an abundant display of relics and sites of historical interest. Suzhou is a garden city located in southeastern Jiangsu Province of East China. It is also a modern city with good roads, rail links, an underground metro system and modern apartments. People in Suzhou are friendly, and speak a local dialect as well as standard Mandarin. People tend to speak a little bit of English in tourist areas and the industrial parks, but it helps to know some basic Chinese, particularly in taxis and restaurants, and any effort to speak Mandarin will elicit a delighted response.

Traffic

High-speed trains link Suzhou to Shanghai within half an hour, and to Beijing within five, making it a great location for exploring the rest of China. The nearest airport is in Wuxi, with domestic flights and flights to Hong Kong, Macau and Japan. The two airports in Shanghai, PVG International airport and SHA International airport, offer flights to cities all over the world. Within Suzhou city, public transportation is very convenient. You can take the bus and subways to travel around the city.

Climate

Suzhou has a four-season subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and cool, cloudy, damp winters with occasional snowfall. Spring and autumn are short but beautiful with sunny days and blue sky. Winter temperatures range from freezing to 15°C and summer temperatures from 30°C to 40°C.

Gardens

Suzhou is famous for its classcial gardens collectively a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Humble Administrator's Garden and Lingering Garden are among the four most famous classical gardens in China. You are welcome to all these well-kown gardens all year round.

What is my work schedule per day?

For Suzhou location, schedule varies by teachers or grades. For Changshu location, you will work as a homeroom teacher.

Where would I live?

The school offers on-campus housing. However, if you do not want to live on campus, you can choose to rent an apartment near the school and you will get 1000-2000RMB housing allowance per month.

How to get to Suzhou from PVG airport?

A. Most convenient: Airport shuttle bus directly from PVG airport to Suzhou (about 2.5hrs, 90 RMB ).

B. Fastest: Taxi directly to SIFLS(about 2hrs, 600 RMB).

C. Cheapest: Take the subway from PVG airport to SHA airport and then take the bullet train from SHA airport to Suzhou Train Station (about 2.5hrs, 50 RMB, NOT recommended for people with lots of luggage).

D. SIFLS would like to help with compensable service of airport picking up from PVG airport to SIFLS, about 450 RMB.

How to get to the school from Suzhou Train Station?

You can take bus No. 81, total 9 stops and you get off at the station called “Suzhou International Foreign Language School”. About 35 minutes.

Do I need to pay for the meals?

Meals are free on work days. You can have Chinese food in the dining hall. If you would like to try food from other countries you can find the restaurant near the school within 10 mins walk.

What are Suzhou’s most famous tourist attractions that I can visit?

A.Humble Administrator Garden

Located in downtown Suzhou, Humble Administrator Garden is the largest classic private garden in this city, and also the best representation of Chinese classical gardens of the Ming Dynasty. Covers an area of 52,000 square meters, it was first built in the fourth year of the reign of Emperor Zhengde of Ming Dynasty in 1509. Its design is duplicated in many gardens throughout China, and there is even a replica in the New York Metropolitan Museum.

B.The Lingering Garden

Lingering Garden is one of the great four gardens in China. It was first built in Wanli reign of Ming Dynasty in 1593 as Xu Taishi private garden.

C.Suzhou Museum

Founded in 1960 and originally located in the national historic landmark, Zhong Wang Fu palace complex, the old Suzhou Museum has been a highly-regarded regional museum with a number of significant Chinese cultural relics. In 2006, a new museum, which is the masterpiece that designed by world famous architect I.M.Pei was completed and located at the cross of Dongbei Street and Qimen Road.

D.Tongli Water Town

With a history of over 1,000 years, Tongli is a typical water town in Jiangsu Province, about 27 km away from Suzhou. This town is separated by 15 rivers into seven islets, which are connected through 49 ancient bridges. Tongli, established in the Song Dynasty, has a history of over 1,000 years. Like other water towns, Tongli is built along the water and been separated by river courses into seven islets.
